Friend brought me some golden gage wood and all the buds are showing green. I found a couple where there was two buds...one was open the other still closed and graft that one over. Tried two ways. As is with one opening bud and one where I removed the opening bud, leaving the unopen one

Any suggestions? Grafting to a plum that just starting to wake up. Buds swollen and the first tiny bits of green showing on host tree.

also tried a whip and tongue graft wrapped all up in parafilm.

I've never grafted non dormant scion wood do any help/suggestions happily welcomed! It's a very time limited grafting opportunity.
