Any BM Color experts out there?

Any color experts out there??

Our entire main level was prevously painted BM Shaker Beige except our powder room and laundry area. We are repainting and would like to introduce BM Natural Linen and Edgecomb Gray into the mix. What does everyone think? Are the three BM colors complementary to each other. Edgecomb gray would be in the 1/2 bath and laundry so not as concerned, but do Shaker Beige and Natural Linen look nice side by side??

Why so many paint color changes? Pick either Edgecomb Gray or Natural Linen. EG is more versatile IMO and works better with Shaker Beige (which I assume is remaining in some areas).

    Natural Linen

Jillian - Interior design student - Jillian, sorry I was out all of yesterday and then straight to bed!!

I think this weekend I'm going to post pictures of our kitchen Reno which has prompted the painting. I love the Shaker Beige in our rooms that have natural light but it is just too dark and beige for me in the darker hallways of our two story home which is why I was looking at a different color. The powder room and laundry room are both other colors right now and I thought the Edgecomb grey would be nice, but I'd prefer to give them a coordinating color to whatever I paint the main floor in I.e. If I paint the kitchen/hallway Edgecomb grey I'd like to paint the bathroom another color and not shaker beige. I guess I feel like I'm living in a bit of a 'brown' house right now.

Jillian - Interior design student - Hi Jillian, it has taken me a couple of weeks to get things organized with life happening all over the place. :-)

I've attached pictures of the kitchen as it stands today.

Update on paint: Ive gone a little crazy putting tester paint on my walls. Natural Linen appears too close to Shaker Beige so I've taken it off the table as we are keeping two of our south facing rooms Shaker Beige.

I tried Collingwood Grey, but it appears much too purple/blue in certain areas of the house. I like, yet do not love the Edgecomb Grey as it is too pale in color adjacent to our white cupboards so I thought of going 25% darker and seeing how that would look.

What do you think about going 25% lighter with the Shaker Beige? I wonder if that might solve the issue I'm having with it being too dark in the hallways where the light is minimal. Doing this I can keep Shaker Beige in the kitchen/family room and paint the 75% strength in the darker areas plus the front entry.

I really do love beige but I need help on figuring out how to work with it and still create a room / house that is not just a sea of beige.

I'm going to post pictures of the family room as it is open to the kitchen and the hallway to the front of the house so you all get a better idea of what I'm working with.

Here are some additional photos for context. Btw we are painting the entire first floor and the hallway up to the 2nd floor. We are also painting our laundry and powder room.

Is Edgecomg Gray considered a greige? Just curious, my whole house is Shaker Beige and I would like to introduce gray to it.

ccahls - yes in certain light it is definitely griege. For me it is more griege in a well lit room, in direct sunlight. Any other light and it appears a more creamy beige.

ccahls - what do you use as accent colors ie rugs, throws etc?

Lovely home. Your kitchen is well suited for beige. I really like the idea of diluting the shaker beige for many reasons. 25% may not be a noticeable difference.

A floor plan would be helpful to see how the rooms flow together. The dining room may be the place to move away for beigeland.

Jillian - Interior design student - I don't have a floor plan though I can probably draw one out.

Do you think we should try to go 50% lighter on the shaker beige?? I feel like Shaker Beige can be a heavy feeling color and I'd hoped to achieve something a bit more light feeling if that makes sense?

Unfortunately at this time we won't be touching the paint in the front living room and the dining room. Maybe at a later date. We need new dining room furniture before that happens as the items we have are circa 1970 :) I'm quite pleased with the front living room though plan to switch out the rug, tables and lighting.
