No, Epiphytica is not hard to order from. I email Jack (epiphytica@gmail.com) with the EPC, name of hoya, and price. Then I total my order. Like this:

Hey Jack, me again. Ordering for the millionth time. Here is my current order:

EPC 959 Hoya hybrid $20

EPC 947 Hoya aff. diversifolia $20.

Total: $100 (MINIMUM ORDER OF $100)

*If you do not have an import permit, you can only buy 13 plants PER order. If you have an import permit, send Jack your sticker before placing your order.

Then, he sends me an email:

Hi, I have all you requested. Attached is your invoice. (Although now, he invoices me directly through paypal, which is easier).

Phyto is $12 flat, shipping is $30, or something like that (as of last order, done in Nov. last year).

I pull up my invoice, which will include shipping and phyto fees, and pay via my paypal.

Jack packs my order within a week and ships it.

Then I track via:

http://track.thailandpost.com/tracking/default.aspx?lang=en

until it hits the States, where I can track it via USPS.

It then goes through LAX Customs (for me, for other parts of the Country, it may be different), who either push it through (if this is the case, it arrives to me in 3 days from Thailand), OR, inspect it. I have had a package held and inspected for 14 days! You cannot imagine how angry I was. BUT...they ALL arrived in pretty good shape. A leaf or two lost, maybe a bit of vine dieback. But no deaths. Only once needed a replacement (he sends in next order or refunds for just the one that was dead, take pics). That replacement was for hoya mindorensis yellow with red corolla. And mindorensis (as well as its close relative, rintzii) HATES travel. So, I kind of expected it.

If you plan to order any like campanulata, sammananiana, wallichi, multiflora, halcoensis, buotii, mindorensis, rintzii, imbricata, or others with thin leaves/true epiphytes, be prepared for very dehydrated plants! Some may need to be made into cuttings. Jack packs very well, but if Customs pulls your package for inspection, they can be rough on the plants and/or hold them for a ridiculous amount of time.

When your package arrives:

*Unpack and photograph each one individually. Upload here, and brag.

...just kidding, sort of. Keep the pics, though. You may need to send them to Jack, if one looks bad. He will first coach you through trying to salvage it, if he thinks it is possible. If his help doesn't work (please give it up to 6 weeks, I am not kidding; my hoya mariae arrived green as ever, but every single leaf dropped in the box. I thought I was going to lose it, but Jack talked me through the ordeal, gave me excellent advice, and around 5 weeks later, it pushed out 2 new leaves). Keep updating him with photos and progess, or lackthereof. If no progress is made, he will ask you if you want to include a replacement in your next order, or if you want a refund on the plant.

*Soak your plants for 15-30 minutes. I use a huge rubbermaid filled with lukewarm water, 1/4 cup sugar (dissolved), and 3 tablespoons FoliagePro. You don't have to add anything in the water; I do it as a precaution (and to make myself feel better).

DO NOT SPRAY WITH ALCOHOL, NEEM, PEST CONTROL. DO NOT TREAT WITH SYSTEMICS FOR 30 DAYS! Jack is REQUIRED to systemically treat his plants with imidacloprid (same ingredient in BATS) before shipping by law! No need to re-treat for at least 30 days!

*Remove any sphagnum moss, and pot up!

*Order again!
