Asbestos possible.

I need to know should I worry about some glue my husband found under our tiles, on our concrete floors it is dark brown in color he already took up the tile.they are nine by nine. Help please.house was built in 1967. You could lift the tile right up with your hand.

Put a little warm water on the adhesive. If it emulsifies, it is an organic paste and contains no asbestos.

The other adhesive that was brown in color was a paste used to install rubber and solid vinyl tile. That also contained no asbestos. It would emulsify in the presence of alcohol. Although both those pastes were not specified for the installation of 9 x 9 asphalt asbestos tile, I have seen it done; not all professionals followed instructions and DIY ers would use anything marked flooring adhesive. It is a particular black asphaltic adhesive that contained asbestos. Your adhesive is brown.
