Thanks for the thought; but I'm just about certain that, whatever it is, it's a wild form rather than a man-made variety (I'm actually planning to grow 'Sweetness' one of these years). I think I'll withdraw the "moschata" remembrance for this, mentioned earlier, as I realized that that pertains to another wild Narcissus which I was considering getting at the same time I bought this one. Likely this is a long-tubed form of N. jonquilla that someone gave a latinate name to. The other thing I remember is that I only purchased three bulbs of it because it was quite expensive...and when I received it, I was a little surprised how small these expensive bulbs were...

Looks like Narcissus jonquilla simplex, an heirloom variety that's been around for some 400 years or so :-))

Narcissus jonquilla simplex is supposed to have many flowers per stem. How many are on your stems? I originally thought it looked like what my husband and I call Sweeties, but in searching for that I ran across Sweetness.

Sweeties are narcissus jonquilla and are known to be very fragrant.

Mostly, the stems carry one or two blossoms, sometimes three. Thanks!

Sounds very likely, as I am a longtime customer of Old House Gardens. OK, Narcissus jonquilla simplex it is! I think it's the long-tubed wetland form rather than the short-tubed hillside form. Thanks, all!
