Also, the maximum outdoor length of a span of tile is 8 feet before you need an expansion joint. PLan accordingly

The plan was to lay the tile in brick pattern. How would this work?

Depends on the tiles you pick. Most large format tiles have a maximum overlap of 33%. If you want brick laid (50% offset) you need a very flat tile. There is no way to know the tiles are flat enough until you have two in your hands.

1- Place one whole tile face up on a counter 2- Place another whole tile face down on the first. Can you see daylight around the edges? Does the top tile spin easily? 3- Rotate the top tile 180º and test again. This is to see if the hump is centered or not.

Thank you for your help. I tried that and I don't see any light around the edges. The top tile does not spin easily. What does that mean? The tile is 6x24, porcelain, rectified edges. Will we still be able to lay it in brick pattern even if we have to incorporate expansion joints?

The tiles seem flat enough for a 50% offset. BUt then the substrate needs to be very flat. No worse than 1/8" over 10 feet measured peak to peak. You always need expansion joints.
