I would try some burlap, not quite sure what else you should do; I am not experienced with overwintering palms. It was a good pick for hardiness, although I think needle palms are slightly more hardy, but I don't think it makes much difference. If you really want to hardcore overwinter it though, you will need a heater. Not quite sure what else I can do for you!

Good news though: Winter is over!! (at least in my opinion)

Im not quite so far north but I have quite a few things that are rated zone 9 or 10. So a zone stretch for mine. I was told to water them the night before a freeze and that helps protect them better.

Watering will not help, but hurt in zone 6a.

You might want to try Sabal minor

Do not water before a freeze, it simply kills the palm. The night before the freeze wrap the base in burlap, then put a frost cloth over it.

old style christmas lights and a thermocube. Self regulating heat tape. small 40 watt light bulb. All those will add quite a bit of warmth for very little cost.

Update: The spear finally pulled yesterday the tip inside that broke off was moist and mushy when i squeezed it. I added some Hydrogen Peroxide down the hole in hopes it can survive hopefully! Anyideas on what i can do to keep it alive?
