I'd love to know how the owners love navigating around this island. I am considering a very similar layout solution for a similar sized kitchen. I think this layout is a great solution, but I have too many friends telling me it might be a bad idea. 12' wide kitchens seem such an awkward size to lay out. Have you received any feedback since installation?

Hi Wendy - sorry for the delay. We finished this project in 2012 and we do stay in contact with the owner. They are still in love with their kitchen. We've heard similar comments from people when they look at this photo, that the island seems too long. The working triangle however is actually quite easy to navigate as it's contained at the end of the island and in fact serves it's purpose as a convenient staging and prep area.

Thank you for your reply. I did go with a Long Island in my kitchen, it is 132" long and I absolutely love it. Thank you for posting this picture and inspiring me.
