Is this a Chimera ?
Hi all, in the thread on Gritty Mix, I posted a picture of a plant I recently purchased from my local vendor to show his soil components. If you see that picture or the one below, you can see many hard water spots on the leaves, very common with Florida's hard water. This is pic is of the plant when I brought it home and the ID that came with it.
That was about a week ago. Today, I finally got around to cleaning off the leaves with white vinegar (thanks Denise !) and when I got the first few cleaned off, I got a surprise, and more as I cleaned. The splash was PINK ! Isn't a Chimera supposed to be a RHP and a Pubicalyx with pink splashes, a Pink Silver ? Here it is all cleaned off.
What do I have ? Does anyone know the splash/color code for Pub leaves as far as an ID goes without blooms to confirm ? It's already growing like a weed and the price was right. I need therapy !

Thanks all. Yes Harawlins I think I did okay considering the surprise. I have a huge one in a west facing window, full sun in summer all full of silver splash that I 'thought'' was a RHP. It only came labeled Pubicaylx. Here is a pic of it.
In 5 years, it has never bloomed ! It wouldn't know what a peduncle was if it had a flashlight and a team of bloodhounds to help it search for one ! The only reason it hasn't been compost heaped is because I love the leaves !Marco
10 years agoMarco, it looks identical to my super-splashy 'Pink Silver'. Mine has always been a stingy bloomer, but when it does bloom, it's fragrance is strong and musky, so you wouldn't want a LOT of blooms all at once. I love it's smell, but some people find it a bit of an assault to the nose! Like you said, though, it's worth growing just for the beautiful foliage. And once you do get blooms, you'll agree it was worth the wait!

Not sure if there is unclassifieds section of this forum I am missing so I decided to post here! I am looking for blooming similar to the photo below. If anyone has any suggestions or a plant I can buy a cutting from I would be greatful! Thanks
