For all other than the OP, GardenWeb/Houzz is not the proper venue to attempt to sell an inground planted tree. You want to attract any potential LOCAL buyers, not offer it for sale on a global website!! You need to advertise locally - Craigslist, Nextdoor, any local Facebook pages. Or contact local nurseries and landscape supply outlets to see if they have knowledge of any interested parties.

And do it now. This is the proper time of year to dig and move a JM with the least amount of disruption to the tree.

@ pedichi, please read all the previous comments. This is not the venue to generate sales of your tree. You need to advertise locally!

Also, take that quote from the nursery with a large grain of salt. This is not a "retail ready" tree like they would sell but a risky and expensive undertaking that should be done by an expert at the right time of year.

And you can only expect what a buyer for a compromised tree that may or may not survive the digging and replanting is willing to pay. I am somewhat of a specialist in JM's and wouldn't pay anywhere close to that much!!
