Far Red? (when and how long?)

I currently have a hibiscus & mandevilla under full spectrum and would like to encourage more blooms with some far red (700-800nm) before they go outside for summer. When is the ideal time of day (and also duration) to achieve the best results on this?

Hibiscus & mandevilla are not short day plants. I often see them flowering outdoors during the summer. Increased far red will increase internode length which is often considered undesirable.

Thanks for the input on this. I returned the bulb (since I don't really know what I'm doing and spring is starting to hit us in Northern California). I'll research it all a bit more as we head into next winter!
