If these tulips aren't Darwins they probably won't bloom again. They will put up some foliage next year if you snap off the seed pod and allow the foliage to yellow. Meanwhile keep them watered until the foliage begins to turn to yellow and then water less and less. Remove foliage when it has yellowed and is willing to detach from the bulb. The bulbs will have split as tulip bulbs do. These splits need to be in dry soil over their domant period (summer). Lots of information on the web and in this forum on tulips if you look.

Hareball - I just noticed you are in zone 8b as I am. This type of tulips will not return for you or rather you may see foliage but no flowers. I bought species tulip last year because I was told by a horticulturist that they would return. So far no sign of them.

Thank you. I did try to look up information but sometimes seeing it in conversation is easier to understand. I thought I saw that they don't return but didn't know if this was for all of them or certain types. One was a gift from my MIL and the other was a clearance plant for $0.99 at Walmart so no biggie. I will care for it and see what happens. All plants need homes right? :)

In my z9a garden, tulips are very expensive annuals. I even tried species from Turkey and they didn't return. Bah!

I am going to have to educate myself on weather zones. Here, we just go by terms, such as cold temperate (where I am) temperate, sub-tropical and tropical. So much easier.

Keep watering your tulips until they really look like they won't want any more. And if you have some fertiliser, you can add that too. (Any old thing.) During the summer they want to be dry, out of the sun. If they do not get this summer dryness they can rot.

Come the Autumn you can have a look at them. They will probably have become small bulbs rather than the two big ones they were, when they bore your flowers.

You can pot them into fresh potting mix or plant in the garden about 4 inches deep. They want a sunny, well-drained site.

They will gradually grow to flowering size again. Good luck.
