Do you happen to know what kind of palms those are? It looks to me that they are somewhat underwatered. Also, I would lay some heavier mulch down around the palm in the first picture; it looks as though there are quite a few weeds around it, and they may be contributing to an underwatering problem.

Pygmy date palms are heavy feeders.They need manganese &magnesium.

Pygmy Palms, or actually Pygmy Date Palms, are Phoenix roebellenii. Without knowing which climate you're in and what has been happening with your palms of late it's a bit difficult to say. How long have they been growing in that spot? The more detail you can provide the better.

When I moved in two years ago the palms were thriving. They are very likely over watered rather than under. I live in Santa Clarita CA. I have never fed them anything other than water. Thanks for that comment about the soil and feeding.

Did it get cold in Santa Clarita recently? Looks like cold damage to me... though excessive heat and sun can also be a problem in that climate (Phoenix roebellenii seem to like a bit of shade, at least in the afternoons, in Santa Clarita). I live not too far away (up the 14) and those palms cannot survive here (very well, at least)... too cold in winter and too blazing hot and dry in summer... crappy soil, too.
