HI Kathy, we are worried that it will make the kitchen too closed in. Once we get the second design done and we starting working with one or the other we can play a bit more with this. I think we will find it will make that small island a bit smaller and we already know in the existing house we need this to make the space flow better.

What if you moved the door opening over to the left and put the fridge to the right of the door (to save space, pull the island to the south of the picture, take out the penisula. Just another idea. Not sure how it would look.
