Chicken wire. They do know how to find the choice bits. :-(

Oh, that's way too much to prune! That would make me SO upset. I hope the roses come back for you.

    Rabbit season declared.

    Sorry to hear that toolbelt!

Learned my lesson a few years ago now all smaller roses get caged until they get bigger...

Dang I see a weed that needs pulled...lol

Yup, wire is the way to go! OR, I grate bars of Ivory soap and sprinkle it around my roses every Spring. They hate the smell and stay away. I use the big grating holes on a box grater so they don't melt so fast.

Summer, THAT IS SO-O-O-O FUNNY!!!!! If we run into a bunch of bubble blowing rabbits, we'll know where they belong!

Rebecca, I bought the cheap gum from the dollar store... not sticky enough? Have to pay more for some good sticky gum.......

Summer, evidently your rabbits don't mind hopping around with gluey guts. I would have thought they would have gotten sick by now. Or maybe they have and it's siblings that are visiting...

Thanks for the support everyone. There are only about 4 places where the bunny can get into the yard as it's completely fenced. Those spots will be made rabbit proof very soon!!!! Back in my rabbit hunting days we only shot them with rifles, shooting from the hip, after they were 50 feet away. Not many escaped us, so if push comes to shove I think Mr. Rabbit is in trouble..... lol

Now for those of you who are gearing up to read me out, I'm kidding, okay.... lol...... well.....

I've seen rabbits go through those little holes in fencing a few times here... Mostly when our dog is chasing them...lol...

Those rabbits... Last spring I planted a gorgeous alchymist rose that arrived from Antique Rose Emporium covered in buds about to open. Rabbits ate it down to the ground overnight. It bounced back. Chicken wire is the way to go until they fill in for sure.

I stick sticks in a circle around young roses spaced 3 or 4 " apart. I'm sure a rabbit could get through the gaps if they wanted to but I think they don't like the looks of a little cage of sticks , or maybe they take a bite of a stick and find it is not good and leave it alone. Anyway it works pretty well. Rabbits don't bother more mature canes here.

I have deer spray, it only works on rabbits for a short time, and I can't spray in the winter. During the summer we have a lot of rain from the Great Lakes, so the spray won't last. It might work better for Toolbelt.

Jim, the young ones can go through the fence but this guy is huge so that really narrows it down. I'll block his/her fence holes with some bricks.
