That is a great ditty! It is so true. All I've done this week is weed, weed, weed and I'm so tired of it, but I was taking advantage of the soil being soft from recent rainfalls, making it easy to pull up the entire root. Also, staying busy weeding has kept me from putting more plants into the ground, which would need to be protected from freezing on Fri-Sat-Sun nights this weekend. I really wanted to plant a lot of flowers I've grown from seed, but talked myself into waiting until after this cold spell has passed, and I'm glad I did because it just would have been more beds to cover up. Our forecast lows, once predicted on the 7-day forecast to bottom out around 41, now are at 38, 33 and 35 the last time I checked, so I expect the weekend is going to feel too cold to weed,and since it rained yesterday and is raining right now, probably too wet to weed without getting big clumps of soil stuck to the weeds I pull. Early-season weeding sure gets old quickly, but as I get ever-thicker mulch on the beds over time once the plants gain some height, the weeding load drops quite a bit, though it never goes away.
