My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
I can't remember its name but this year I just left all the rhizomes undisturbed in the pot after it spent most of the fall in the garage. It looks better than it did last year...bushier with lots of buds.
Kohleria is a disease? Well maybe not, but I grew my first four this past year from someone that volunteered to send me some. The flowers are interesting, but I think the tall rank foliage is too much for the relatively small flowers.
My pot of Kohleria has has about ten stems and the tallest is now about ten inches high. I think they, like other of my plants look better in a group. There are now seven blooms and they are small but each of the stems has at least five buds. It is just getting started in its blooming cycle. It probably gets more comments from non-plant growing friends than my other plants. The bottom leaves don't seem to last long and it does get ratty looking before getting put in the garage when it has finished blooming.
Oh, I freely admit the blooms are unique...I guess it's a value judgement. I don't want to throw them away, but I am not sure that I wouldn't like to give them to someone else.
Some growers prefer large flowers, some - a lot of small ones. "Rattlesnake" has medium size flowers, leaves are very attractuve - so all together - veined leaves, sturdy plant and a smatter of bright blossoms makes it a good choice. I still think the best of John Boggan - is " Silver Feather".
If you want a managable size plant - root the 3-5 blooming tips - 3-4 internodes - they do root easily - a week under the dome - and they are good - never even stop blooming. Because if you start them from rhizomes - they grow to their full size before they show flowers.
There are compact varieties - Peridots Kitlope - is probably the best, Peridots Mango Martini, Florida Freckles, Canticle - this one is very rare oldie, another oldie that is minuscule - 'Flirt' - blossoms are small but very bright. 'Brazil Gem' - is superb - small flowers but a truckload of them.
So , Mr DB - which ones do you grow? I bet you can make a swap to something else through this group.
I *should* have...but I'm not good at that (and I didn't keep the paper labels nor transcribe to something more permanent)..so, no, they're noids unless someone recognizes them.
