Queens do have some bad habits but then again so do most palms ?? I use mine to grow epiphytes mostly Vanda orchids but also bromeliads . Broms will grow right on top of the roots lol. A gazillion varieties to choose from and very little debris . What I do like about Queens is that they hold the spent fronds ,so called self cleaning will drop fronds crushing every thing below lol Of course there are many other types of palms with various bad habits . Would think cluster palms a better choice for containers?? gary

Thanks! I love the orchid idea.....I forgot to add that we're in a terrible wind tunnel and whatever gets planted will need to resist the wind. I'm actually trying to locate a tiki carver that can carve the stumps if we remove the top half of the trees. Eventually they will rot out, but it will solve the root problem. Does anyone know offhand how long it takes for a queen palm stump to deteriorate? That will directly determine how much we're willing to pay for the carving!

How about just remove the two smaller? The big one adds atmosphere. Just one should be much easier to deal with roots then three.

Is that a Plumeria? The palm is complimentary....

The palms are killing the plumerias because they sent roots through the whole planter. We removed and replaced all of the soil 8 years ago, and the palms have already made it unplantable again.
