It was mentioned in this thread a while back, and apparently Burlington Roses has it. I don't know if it's currently available from there, but definitely send an email saying you're interested.

It might be worth e-mailing Antique Rose Emporium. It isn't listed on their web site, but I have a hazy- possibly completely wrong!- impression that they have carried it in the past.

Maybe if they get requests for it, they will offer it... it is a Texas foundling, after all...

Lindsay, I'm hoping you're still out there somewhere and are still connected to Gardenweb. Interestingly, it's been 2 years exactly to the day since you added the comment above. :-) I have the Canary Island Rose. A friend of mine is also a descendant and she used to grow them. She gave them to me, and now I have some which need new homes. Are you anywhere in the San Antonio area ?

I'm not Lindsay, but if you have an extra "Canary Island Rose" after giving/saving her one, would you be willing to send it to me? I have a project I'm beginning, and using not-in-commerce oldies was an intended focus. See link below.

I'm so glad Karen's plant lived. I don't remember giving it to anyone else though. I had mine in a bad place, not realizing that it would spread by underground runners. I needed to dig up that huge thing and that's when Karen got it. I had a few more suckers come up after that. Never ending !

Have you tried Burlington Roses in CA? I think owner Burling Leong propagated a plant for a public garden so she may be able to do the same for you. There’s an email address and phone number for contact on the website. I’ll link below. I wish ARE carried Canary Island! I first read about it in books (like Liz Druitt’s) by members of the rose gang affiliated with ARE. I grew up in Dallas. Carol
