Different diptera types, or...?

Both of these little darlings were given to me as H. diptera, but are so dissimiliar in size of foliage that I have been wondering if they are both different kinds of diptera, or maybe something else? Will be a long time before either are ready to flower, but thought I would ask if anyone knew.

I am glad you brought this up. It is not a seedling. It is new growth, though. And more compact, with smaller leaves than the old growth. I suspect this is due to differing environments. I received diptera from ricnfl in 2014, and when the cutting came, the leaves were similar to your other plant. Smaller in size, but not by much. Oddly, new growth on all of my hoyas is more compact than their original growth, and even more strange is the smaller leaved hoyas new leaves are not as big as the original growth. But the real kicker is my large leaf hoyas: new growth is more compact, but the new leaves are significantly LARGER than the original growth!

Some examples (of my larger leaved ones...small leaved ones are buried in the back of the trays...I rotate the trays once a week, and it is their turn to be in back):

obovata (original leaf on left and center bottom, new leaf right and center top) :

sp. Sarawak yellow (original leaf bottom, new leaf above it):

sp. UT-005 (old leaf under giant new leaf...the leaf above the giant new leaf is part of a different hoya)

Perhaps closer picture of the leaves will help others ID your plant?

I posted this elsewhere, because Hoya ADD, and it was suggested the smaller one may be a seedling. Aurorwa, it came from you, is that accurate? Glad you like the smiley pot, it holds a little plastic pot pretty well and makes me grin every morning.

Very interesting. I still plan on giving some to my mom, in this case I will probably give her a rooted piece of the bigger one and tuck the littlw guy in with the remaining piece. That is, once it gets to big for the little pot.

Unrelated, the finnlaysonii you gave me has new growth finally. I am kind of really proud of myself that I can grow single node cuttings now. My botanical jujitsu continues to grow.

And I just noticed, you can make out in the bottom of the pic of sp. Sweet Scent, what I am talking about with the smaller leafed plants' new growth I think that is hoya collina (may even be diptera). The right side is original growth, and the left is new, more compact, smaller leaved growth.

I am still hesitant to say that the leaves WON'T get bigger, but after two years, you think they'd be bigger, if they were going to get any bigger!

Finlaysonii is so carefree! Easy to root, as well. It grows so compact for me, that sometimes, I have to make single node cuttings, especially when it is looking lopsided and doesn't want to throw out a vine!

Go ahead and tuck my diptera in with the other plant! See if it starts throwing out giant leaves! Experiment time!

Think I will, I have a baby AV that can sit in the smily pot for awhile. I do love me some hoya experiments. Also, I emailed you last night, not sure if you still use that address or not.

Haven't checked my email, lol. Will do in a bit. First, I gotta run some errands. Shipment from Epiphytica (shipped on 17th) went inbound into Customs on Sat. and tracking just updated that it is outbound from customs. Which was fast! And means they should be here by Wed. at the latest.
