Very pretty! Is it easy to grow in our climate?

I'm learning. In nature I've read that they like our extremes if they come. It can never get cold enough here to be concerned. And some variations can tolerate extreme heat. the leaves are thick and leathery. I give them full sun and never heat them. The one above bloomed for the first time in 2 years. I have a speciosum hillii that will soon give me one spike. But I think it will do better in time. This one needs more cold weather than we had this year. It was warm in November, December and half of January. Very odd so not much this year from hillii. But it shows willingness And I have high expectations for the future.

Nice growing, Harvey. I almost bought one but decided to wait. Wasn't sure I had the right conditions. Now, I might give it a try.

There are many different varieties that like different conditions. I would say Arthur and Nick are very well versed on the species den. speciosum. I know they live in a wide variety of conditions and they have specialized and adapted to where they live. Google offers a lot of reading on it...Mine get full sun inside a screen enclosure. I never heat them and I think that matters for flower production. The cold moves them to flower...Some more than others...
