I have a set of Thermador double ovens with the integral microwave. They started doing the same thing. It was intermittent and I could fool it into starting. Then, I couldn't fool it any further. It was time to fix them.

Apparently, I fried the mother board by using the self-cleaning cycle. The wiring components and the computer components are vulnerable to the excessive heat that the cycle produces. This a common problem with most modern wall ovens.

So, what can you do? I was fortunate to find a replacement board for my unit. If your appliance guy cannot find a new board, the old board can be sent to a restoration company. A search at GW or the internet should provide you with a contact.

It's been a few years. I think it cost me five or six hundred dollars for a replacement unit. My oven was not under warranty. If you consider replacement of the oven, it would cost anywhere between 4K and 6k for a replacement. It was worth it to me to repair. I've gotten an additional 7 or 8 years use of the ovens. My ovens were manufactured in 2002. I think I've gotten my money's worth out of the repair.

That's very good to know. We've been wondering if it's the board, how much extra time it would give the ovens perhaps not a good idea, but she leads a busy, busy life so anything to make things easier has been helpful.

I did a quick search. Here is one link to a refurbishment company. I'm sure there are others. If the control board is the issue, there isn't any reason not to have it fixed.

So I promised to come back with an update. The repair person came out and tested the ovens and of course they worked just fine for the 45-ish minutes they were running. They noted that there is a drawer under the ovens that blocks a vent a bit at the bottom and suggested that my sister keep the drawer ajar when the ovens are on. She has been doing that and has not had any problems since. This has been for about a month, and she uses the ovens nearly every day. Her husband made the cabinets and he will shave a bit off the top of the drawer front to take care of the problem in a more elegant way. Looks like she lucked out with an easy fix, but time will tell.

The F64 & F34 Are Cooling Fan faults on a Thermador. If the airflow is blocked one of these codes will appear.

If your thermador double wall oven is developing intermittent problems with the controls, beeping, declaring faults, have someone remove the display board, look at the solder joints on the connectors under a magnifying glass and you will probably see failed solder joints due to a latent defect in the manufacturing process (cracks in the solder joint due to poor soldering). I went through two display boards and then took a good look and found lots of bad solder joints on both of them. I resoldered them on my kitchen table in 5 minutes and all is good now.
