Duh! Of course you would Rose. I wanted to use blue soooooooo bad, at least on the 1st floor. I have several paintings hanging which have a cobolt blue in them, and thought it would work. I brought a couple of pillows home in a very close color, set them on the sofa, but could NOT get used to the blue. Good luck. ;)

I think your plan would work just fine.

I have a soft fairly light blue more modern rug in the office and can see the Oriental rug in the TV room and the Aubusson-style rug in the front room. I think it works becaus e they all have soft colors with no strident patterns. I feel refreshed when I see the blue rug with green and white flower tendrils.

patty, when I say blue rug, I didnt mean all blue, but the main color would be navy or dark blue, perhaps with some deep red or gold as accent colors. I plan on adding two large abstracts into the family room that would have blue.

TR, I think the rug you have in your family room is mainly blue if I recall and has other colors as accents, does it not? It is a lovely rug.

Rose, of course. I'm not a lover of solid rugs, and don't own even one. Besides, that would be too much blue.

You know I think if it's the same kind of saturation and perhaps style, and if they share some colors, it's perfectly fine, maybe even preferable.
