All downdrafts are pop up units that rise from the counter.

Dacor Broan and viking make them. They are not a good idea if you cook anything more than pasta. Most downdrafts will use a 6" only with an internal blower. If you do this, you will need more than the 600cfm they offer so you would need a 10" to accommodate the larger 1200cfm or so exterior blower.

The only 48" appliance I would recommend with a downdraft is dacor because it's only 6 burners.

All that being said...there is almost nothing I can say positive about this arrangement. If you can go with something else...please do that

Joe. I have a similar situation where due to layout I must use a downdraft system. I can get away with 30 or 36 inch range. Can you tell me which product out there you think offers the best set up? Thanks
