There are many Hippeastrum and Amaryllis Groups on Facebook and some only cater to species and their primary hybrids. Some members there who have access to the more rare and hard to find species do not even come in here. You might want to check them out.

"The aim of this group is to share information -texts and photographs- of the beautiful species of the genus Hippeastrum. Since there are already many groups devoted to the classical hybrid Hipeastrum and other gephytes within the Amaryllidaceae family, we will just be focused on botanical Hippeastrum (species). Botanical species are plants which occur in nature, while hybrids are plants in which man has had a hand in creating. There are also naturally occurring hybrids, where two different species ranges overlap and the two populations intermingle, but these are quite rare in nature. Primary hybrids are plants in which two species are used as the parents. There are also complex hybrids, which are those in which many hybrids and species have been used in their background. In this group we would like to concentrate just with the species (primary hybrids of Hippeastrum may also be allowed, with known origins).
