one add. question.. if in another month there is no growth, but the stem is still solid , not rotted, can I pull it out of the soil, make another cut, n start the process once again?? or do I need to buy more cuttings...thanks

you might want to try a heat mat. They like the warmth from the bottom.

If it's still hard, no need to recut and replant.

And no, given the time of year, 3 months is not long at all.

hey.. checked on both my plumeria's... neither have sprouted anything... I pulled em out of the soil.. the 1st one's bottom is as solid as the day I bought it... the 2nd one's bottom is a little soft (about 1/4-1/2'' of it)... so my questions are

do I cut the 1/2'' of the soft bottom ?? and replant??

I planted both in a very light soil mix in pots... can I take em out of the pot they are in, and replant in perlite in a clear 16oz water bottle so I can see any progress of roots growing?? ... I don't have any 1 or 2 litte bottles... thanks

I used bag rooting method. so I do not guess the cutting start rooting or
not.

My
rooting success rate is almost 100%. I used 95% coconut fiber and 5%
perlite. so when I removed the bag, media is hard and does not break the
new roots.

I have two cuttings that took me a little bit longer a year to rooted. Now, they are very healthy little plants.

OUCH... a year...

Brought home 4 plumeria cuttings from Hawaii a few years ago. Came back in September. Didn't root until April or May. 1 rotted. a second one eventually died. two survived. The neighbor next to our rented apt pruned her tree and had a trunkful of cuttings.

well I cut about 1'' of the bottom of one of em, till I saw all white- its been sitting out for 5days now- later today I will dunk it in rooting hormone, n stick it in a 1ltr clear plastic bottle filled with mostly perlite, so I can see the progress..if any... I think I'm going to buy a few that r already rooted n growing... they take way toooo long to get going...

FINALLY... i cut the bottom of one of em, and replanted it in a 1 litter water bottle filled with perlite- the other cutting i left in its container

today i see some top growth on the one i didn't repot, and the one in the see-thru water bottle has lots of roots, tho no top growth yet.. so maybe I'm on my way...
