Hi and thanks for the question. This rug is a mix of recycled denim and durable jute material. It has a rough surface and can withstand a good amount of traffic. If your goal is to "trap" dirt, then it might be a nice solution but I would suggest you regularly clean and/or shake out the rug to prevent dust and/or dirt build up. Hope this helps!
