Vr. Mint Julep

I bought this Vriesea today, partly because I like the leaves (and it was a decent price) and partly because it is a Vriesea, and I like the flowers, but I do not know what the flowers for this will look like. Tropiflora says they will be purple - is that what I can expect? I have not been able to find any photos of flowers for this plant on line. Has anyone here had one bloom?

I also bought a new very large Tillandsia Fasciculata, and the blooms on it should be opening fairly soon. They look like a lot of other tillandsia flowers that I have, except that the flowers and plant are much larger.

I found some earlier threads (from 2006) on the Mint Julep, but the photos were not viewable.

Hi everyone.

Lars - That's a nice looking Vriesea; I especially like the hieroglyphic markings on the leaves, very attractive indeed.

The flowers of this plant are not purple but more of a creamy/yellow according the the cultivar list in the FCBS Photo Index. There are several pictures on this index and they are number 429 on the index at: http://fcbs.org/pictures.htm

Thanks! I was unable to find that, for some reason. The flowers remind me a bit of the Vr. Platynema, but with less colorful bracts. I think I have a variation of the Platynema - mine looks like this:
Whatever the new flowers look like, I did buy it primarily for the leaves, and it is different from the others that I have.
