I answered this on the Rose Forum but for others that are interested, both Golden Celebration and Graham Thomas do well in Phoenix gardens... probably some of the best of the older yellow Austins. Northwest can be a hot zone in your garden but ample water, mulch and a reduction in fertilizers will help them get through the broiling desert sun. Golden Celebration did not like my garden and baked to death but I've seen others that grow and bloom beautifully. Palm Desert has a very active rose society and several knowledgeable rosarians that can answer specific questions on climate, irrigation and hardiness.

I also replied in the Rose forum but here goes. Evelyn has been a great rose for me. The Dark Lady is in her second year, didn't do much last year but is great this year. If I could figure out how to post pictures from my phone, i'd post some. Boscobel is in it's second year also and is doing great.

I grow many other types of roses, especially teas, noisettes, and bourbons, as well as hybrid teas. Polyanthas, such as Cecil Brunner,clothide Soupert, etc are great. By far the teas are the best roses in my gardens; Catharine Mermet, Maman Cochet, Souvenir de Peirre Notting, and others.,, Great bourbons are Souv de la Malsaison, souvenir de St Anne, Mme Dore, Louise Odier which had not stopped blooming since planted a month or so ago, and Kronpricess Vitoria is a wonderful sport of SDLM ,Romaggi Plot Bourbon competes with SLDM for being the most floriflorous..Noisette Alistair Stella Grey is a non stop bloomer. I could go on an on. There are many good roses for hot,dry climates.
