We are adding a 120 sq foot deck to the west side of our house in San Diego. Redwood is almost as expensive as Trex and a lot more maintenance. But I read that Trex retains heat. We had a wood deck that got hot enough and that side of the house gets a lot of sun, hot sun. Ipe wood is a lot more expensive and so hard it wears out saw blades and drill bits, so installation costs more.
Please share your experience with me. This is an expensive deck, coming at the end of a full house remodel. We are looking for low maintenance.
