Hello, Thanks for your question. The exterior millwork is a painted clear cedar and the profiles were made with custom knives. Having a knife made and custom millwork run has gotten a lot more affordable recently. Portions of the house have what we call an "integrated gutter". On some of our projects we have design an "integral gutter" or "built-in gutter". The gutters are very expensive, as an entire structure needs to be designed to support the gutter, support the millwork to the outside of the gutter and there is a higher level of waterproofing needed for this approach. We also have designed the down-spouts to go internal and come out the bottom of the wall through a lambs tongue so the downspouts are not exposed as well. This is also expensive because of the additional waterproofing, insulation and heat tape needed and can lead to acoustical issues because of bringing falling water to the exterior wall.. As an alternate we will sometimes design half-round gutters since these are less visually bulky from the ogee profiles. Good luck on your project.
