My zone will be completely different from yours, but here they sell iris rhizomes to plant in the early spring as well as fall, although mid summer is the desired time to plant when they are dormant. They all do well, although those planted in the spring don't bloom for a year. I would plant them now. I plant in full sun, any I have planted in part shade don't thrive as much as those in full sun, but most still bloom.

I agree. Plant now. The sooner they get some deep roots the better they will handle the weather.

ok i would plant them up immediately . but the things is the medium. i cannot buy the expensive potting mix for all the pots as when it was converted in my currency it is hugely expensive . i make my own medium for sowing seeds and things. i have perlite , coco peat , the river soil (which is best for all other local plants , a bit clayey but good drainage ) and i can manage sand if u would tell me which sand i use .........and how i make a good draining potting mix for irises with these ingredients........

Tall bearded iris do like living in pots for more than 1-2 years. They like to 'travel', meaning their method of reproduction is to form new rhizomes that grow away from the original rhizome. The new rhizomes hit the edge of the pot and are blocked. Growth and blooming is impaired.
