Maximum wattage?

What is the maximum wattage light bulb this takes? I am curious because I suspect that if the wood is old and/or dry, it could be dangerous to use more than 25 watts or so, and I need more light in my hallway.

    I recommend using 40 watt bulbs. However, the heat isn't an issue. Holes are drilled in the lid so that heat buildup doesn't become a problem. However, if this is a concern you can also use cool LED bulbs to remove any remaining concern.
