Blue star creeper experience in SoCal?

I've lost a thread I started asking about a good ground cover for an area we just developed in our back yard. Since, I've come across Blue Star Creeper. Our area (inside the larger rocks next to the dry creek bed) is where the ground cover needs to go and has full sun and partial shade throughout the day. The soil is very compacted and sandy. Has anyone tried this in a space this large in inland SoCal and, how did you like it, and how do you prepare the soil/plant it? There was formerly grass there, but we're in a drought. Zone 9b, just north of the San Diego County border. Thanks!

This is my neighbors house (In Riverside.) She started with thyme but switched to blue star creeper and its doing very well. This was taken July 2015 while she was still working on it. I will try to remember to take a new pic.

So pretty...I love the look but need to know if it would be applicable for a 'lawn' rather than between the stones. Love the foxgloves and lavender. Also, how much water does it get? Thanks so much.

It spreads very well. She was recently mentioning that it's spread into her beds so much that it's saved her a bunch of money- instead of buying more flats she can make plugs from what has overgrown her pathway to finish off the space she has to fill. Your area looks well contained, hers does not have any edging to keep it in.

Her system is set up to water for 15 minutes twice a week right now and will change back to three times a week when it warms up.

Thank you Veda! I'm liking this option more and more. Some people commented on the other thread bit.ly/1V1kerk I'd started on the topic but lost track of, if you'd like to see their suggestions. What I really love is the way it looks in photos and since you personally have seen it up close and personal, I'm feeling it checks almost every box for that area!
