It is not possible to grow the various ferns and fern allies in the same terrarium. Some species may be suitable together but the wealth of species and the wide variety of growing conditions make lumping them under one roof a disservice to the species so treated.

Horsetails, Equisetum, should be grown outside in pots in a container with water that stands about half way up the side of the potted plant. Do not plant in the ground as they spread quite easily under the right conditions.
