Stuart, You can get trees from Dino Adeniums (FB). They are extremely friendly and helpful. Just send them a message.

In Thailand and other countries, they do this cutting of the caudex to produce what they call Centipede Roots, then they will remove some roots in a fashion to create a Balanced Tree. This is called Root Decorating. They do this on Arabicums and TS.

Many of the Arabicums will grow very low and spread out across the soil. This is typical of the species. Not necessarily with any root cutting.

This is an Arabicum Yak Lop Buri.

This is a photo of the Arabicum in full leaf a few years back, Martin. I name it YLB from an identification back then, as I knew it as Arabicum only then?

Sorry about the photo, I do not remember it being this ugly. Do not have another one in full leaf, it seems?

Rick, thank you. This one below is about 11 months old (not pruned) and supposed to be an arabicum 'Yak Lop Buri' (YLB). At least I ordered YLB seeds. ;-)

Does your tree has similiar leaves?

Martin, in the last photo that I posted when it was in full leaf. The leaves seemed a bit large to me. In the subsequent years the leaves have been smaller, similar in size to your seedling.

By the way, Martin. I have to say that I am so impressed with how your seedlings you have posted are all so compact. To see so many in similar in style is truly a mark of your abilities.

Rick, the change in leaf size could be a response to different light levels.

It is a really nice specimen with a unique base, almost split in half. ;-)

And thank you! I have changed my watering schedule, now only watering weekly to reduce the possibility of leggy growth. I want to grow them more hard.

All of my adeniums are still in the grow tents, but when May comes most of them will be moved. Some will be put on a windowsill, others go outside into my large propagator or to a sheltered sunny spot. The weather in spring and summer is very changeable. Day temperatures can suddenly change from 60F/15C to 77F/25C to 86F/30 C within a week and then drop again making adenium growing difficult. I plan to move them anyway. If they go (semi-)dormant, it is perfectly fine. They need a rest after 10-12 months of growth.
