Could anyone give me some ideas for a clematis in the same color as the rose "Annie Laurie McDowell". I would lik to find a clematis in a similar color in the pruning type 3 group. I've tried googling but I can't seem to find anything that works.

(These are not my pictures)

i would appreciate any help!!!!!

How upset will you be if it's close, but not the same? IME variations in growing conditions and photography can make something look the same, but in reality in my garden it may be different. IME many of the pink clematis have a bit of blue to the color that may not be there in the rose. Would you consider a plant such as Avant-Garde which has a tuft of pink stamenoids in the center of a deeper colored set of petals? Or one with a complementary color such as a darker pink shade or white?

Are you planning for these to be blooming at the same time or at different times?

Do you only want a climbing clematis, or will one of the herbaceous ones work for you?

A resource you may find helpful is Clematis on the Web, though many of the listed plants may not be available commercially in the US. Just fill in the parts of the form you know and leave the rest blank.

Brushwood Nursery, a mail order vine specialist, has a plant finder that works in a similar fashion.

I know getting something identical would be a miracle I just would like something close. I will be growing it (the clematis) with a white rose so I really don't want white I really am trying to find something similar to the color of the other rose. It really doesn't matter if they all bloom at the same time.

I do want a climbing clematis though and seeing how it is growing in a rose I figured the pruning type three would be best but I am open to other suggestions.

Thanj you for those resources I will check them out today!!

Hi, just wanted to let you know that my mom had Comtesse de Bouchaud and it was a nice pink and grew reliably to about 8 feet for her.(Ohio) all the pinks I have seen lean more toward a purply pink but hers was in full sun and this helped bleachout the blue tones.

The color on clematis flowers can vary with the amount of direct sunlight they receive so just looking at pictures may not provide a true indication of the color it would be sited in your garden. Having said all that, Nelly Moser is a standard for a pink clem and although barred darked, the paler background color would seem to me to be very complimentary if not a pretty close match to the rose.

Not a type 3 however.......not all that many pale pinks in the type 3 grouping.

Omoshiro is a beautiful clematis that might match, but unfortunately not a type 3.

Hagley Hybrid and Comtesse de Bouchard are the closest in color, I think.
