Adorable, I love it! I have to order some bee clips. Does the lower vine not have enough upward action, and should I unwrap it? How much of the growth tip needs to be pointing upward for it to be happy? My limoniaca and neoebudica are right behind this one.

Lower vine is fine and looks like it will shoot straight out soon! I usually make sure there is at least an inch and a half of growth tip "slack", if that makes sense. It allows for me to point the tip in the direction it needs to be (or I want it to be) to not cause dieback.

It all depends on which hoya, though. Some are so friggin picky about being clipped. Makes for a tangled, jungle of a plant room!

My neocaledonica does not get clipped to the hoop. I let that one grow and grow, then MANUALLY twine it around the hoop until it's growth tip is pointed up, but there isnt 3 feet of vine hanging around. That one grows fast, but is so fussy about being clipped to a trellis!

Kim, do you have a dollar store nearby? (My fav is Dollar Tree). I got my clips from the hair section - 12 to a card, and much more frugal than the gardening sites. I also use the green Velcro tape that's for staking tomatoes. Gotta save up some $$$ for that variegated Hindu Rope Hoya!

Thanks adaorand, I use those myself. I have wrapped it as auraoraw suggested, looks much nicer. I unwrapped some of the lower vine to give it more freedom, its got a nifty corkscrew look going. :)

I need a bamboo hoop for my green H. kerrii that has several inches of new growth on two vines. Last year it had peduncles that dropped, so I'm keeping fingers crossed for blooms soon. My variegated kerrii dropped several leaves (oh, no!) a month or so ago, but now has four new ones on two vines.

Awwww, bummer on the kerrii. I have a solid green variety and a variagated. Still getting the hang of them, but I think these are the only 2 Hoya I own I would rather not have bloom, because of the strawberry jam nectar! :)

I am new to houzz but I have many Hoyas. I just purchased 100 U bamboo to train some of my Hoyas on. Thanks for the design Aurorawa sent. That will help me a lot!
