Just joined will do. I'm in Miami Florida...so hot and humid is year round. These were small and grew fast and strong. Consequently one of those planters has three zucchini plants in it, so overcrowded may be an issue. I'm looking for a bigger raised bed option. We have iguanas nearby because of canal and I'm almost sure they ate the flowers last time it bloomed. I chased it away about 10 times and it seems to have stayed away for now.

I've only used a biodegradable dish soap and water mix. Mainly because I have a key lime tree nearby with a plethora of pests which I am spraying with the same.

Thoughts on this as fertilizer to help get more female flowers? (Compost in the making but not ready)

Hi, I also live in a humid region and powdery mildew is a problem for
me for most of the year. In my experience one teaspoon of bicarbonate
of soda diluted in a litre of water and then sprayed onto the leaves and
stems works pretty well. But you do have to make sure you wet the affected areas thoroughly. Another solution is to try a tough variety. Caserta's a good Zucchini - survives severe powdery mildew attacks and yields like an absolute monster (give it room). Hope that helps.

P.S. Do a google image search for "powdery mildew zucchini" it'll give you a good idea of what the dastardly stuff looks like.

I'm just wondering why the planter for the peppers has so little medium in it. Also there are a lot of plants in it for the size.

Powdery mildew does not populate soil. High humidity is not one of the causes of a powdery mildew attack. Powdery mildew is easily wiped off a plant, so if the whitish powdery on a plant does not easily wipe off it is not powdery mildew. Perhaps this article might be of some help.

Removing leaves that might be infected with may be counterproductive. I have had good results controlling PM with either a spray made of a 50/50 mixture of fat free milk and water or 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda in 1 gallon of water.
