I agree, a contrast of some sort would be nice between the floors and cabinets. You could explore mid-tone cabinets and a darker counter to tie into the flooring. I like having the same flooring throughout a space, especially in a small space, so I wouldn't change the flooring. Good luck!

I would install soft white cabinet (not stark white) and ivory (slightly darker than the cabinets but not beige). If there's an island, you might consider a contrasting material/finish (either wood or painted the dark tan color on the right side of the pic).

We are building in NC and the biggest decision we had to mKe was what color the kitchen cabinets should be-- we ended up deciding on grey- but not painted, stained with a medium dark glaze.. In the end, the color you get is similar to taupe.. It is on rustic alder wood. So, it is not too dark and not too "cool" as there is the brown that shows through.. The nice this about this is it is complimented by any brown woods so you still get character and have no issue with wood transitions. Here,s a pic (taken outside from a sample... Still hard to tell but you can get more of an idea Good luck!!

No to accent pieces over the fridge and stove , white is my preference for cabinet interiors as for different colored cabinets around the kitchen that is tricky and when done perfectly is kinf of fun but most of the time looks bad. If you want to add color why not just think your backsplash could be back painted glass in some color you love . I would need to see the cabinets you have chosen and the layout of the space. These things are really items that your KD should be helping with and I hope you have one and not your architect . A custom home requires a good KD from the beginning.These are a couple of ideas for the glass and the one with the gray and white IMO looks like a hodge podge and I would be sick of it in no time
