It does look like Loop's Pride, and you saying it has thick leaves is even more convincing. I can't ID the other sans, there are several that are similar. Too bad the seller doesn't know what they are.

You're lucky to have a nursery in your area with such hard-to-find sans.

Russ, this nursery is a goldmine of rare plants, not just Sans. He has many hahnii, so I can compare and this one I bought (there were several) among the hanii were the most compact, tulip shaped growth, dark, thick leaved of the bunch - in other words, distinctive. But few are labelled. No matter, I buy what appeals to me. Chances are the other one is possibly S. suffruticosa but maybe not, as you remarked, there are many similarities especially in young plants.

I told the nursery owner "I'm running out of space." He said, "oh, bad for me - have you tried planting them outside?" I basically try to restrict outdoor plantings to either something I can eat or something native birds or bugs can eat. But I did notice The Huntington has Sansevieria planted outdoors, cylindrica, masoniana and a few others.

Next Obs, suffruticosa was the first name I thought of when I saw your sans, but I don't think it is that species. It looks too robust, leaves are too chunky, at least compared to any suffruticosa's I've seen including my own. That said, maybe it's a special form of it.

Like you, I'd buy from that shop regardless of names or no names. Get 1 or 2 of every sans he has.
