    Fantastic photography, of lovely blooms.

Doesn't get any more beautiful than that, Helen! Love Julia's Rose, James Galway, Memorial Day, Pure Posh and The Alnwick Rose, especially!

Just beautiful !!! I especially like your Pure Posh. I was going to start a thread in the other forum, as I am searching for one more lavender rose and needed advice. I may need to look no further. Thank you:)

Great photography as always. I say that I wish that I could take better pictures, but unfortunately, I am always too lazy ( well time pressed) or stubborn to even grab a tripod, and am too impatient to wait for a time of day where there is no breeziness. My DH looks at me, smiles, and shakes his head.

Gee whiz! Your photo's are great!

And you started off with one of my most favourite roses - Julia's Rose! I just love the colour! I planted Mokarosa in autumn and am curious to see how they compare!

PS: Helen - the watermark on your photos says 2015. An oversight??

SERIOUSLY!?! These are heaven sent. You have the touch for sure to capture some gorgeous photos of gorgeous blooms. I have Julia rose new this year again after losing mine a few years ago. Don't quite remember mine being quite so beautiful. It's hard to pick a favorite on this thread bc there's sooooo many. Thanks for sharing!! Judy

Lovely roses! Julia's rose is fabulous!

I planted two Strawberry Hills this winter. I've heard that SH's growth habit can be unruly - what has been your experience?

    Thank you,

    Ann

All so nice, but Julia's Rose takes my breath away with its beauty. Also, I lean into the picture of Blue Girl, as if I am trying to smell it!

Thank you everyone. I'm glad you like the pics. This is my first year with Julia's Rose and its blooms are gorgeous.

Lynn, I understood what you meant :) I have learned in my garden it's often windy in the evening so I have tried to take pictures in the morning if I can. However, it's so hectic in the morning getting ready for work and other stuff that it's not always easy to do so. Thanks to my husband for being very understanding in helping out in the morning so I can have more time taking the rose pics before leaving for work.

Sharlene, you're right. I noticed the wrong year after I posted the pics but it was late so I told myself I will update the year later. Except the first post which can't be edited other pics have been updated with the right year. I checked out Mokarosa. I always impressed with all the rare roses that you have that we don't have access to. Hopefully we will have access to more roses from other countries in the future.

Ann, my Strawberry Hill is still in a 5-gallon pot since last year because I haven't had time to put it in the ground yet. It looks very healthy and its thorns look lethal but its blooms are big and beautiful and the I love the fragrance (I like big blooms whether they are hybrid tea or David Austin roses) so I will plant it in the back of the garden.

Jasmine, I posted Gigi pics to HMF and will post the other pics when I have more time.

Yesterday I just counted the number of roses I have (97). It doesn't seem a lot comparing with other rose gardeners' here but I was a bit surprised by the number because I remembered just four years ago I bought my first three roses from Lowes (Livin' Easy, Scarlet Knight and Sunsprite). They are container roses so it was easy to plant them. Out of these original three, I will give Scarlet Knight and Sunsprite to a friend to make room for some of my still-in-pot roses. Thank you you guys for showing all your wonderful roses so that I think I must have them in my garden :) I enjoy every moment. Helen

Helen, I think 97 is a lot of roses by normal standards!
Not Beth (bethnorcal9) standards, she is another league all together although I am a little envious of her roses! But isn't it just amazing what happens once you get bitten by the rose bug???? There is no stopping us because there is always a rose that you don't have! Well, OK you might have to stop when your garden is full but .... there are always still pots ...... lol

Your Julia's Rose is beyond beyond. Such fantastic shots of fantastic blooms!! I'm staggered by your JR!! They should be in a rose book!!

Your Memorial Day blooms look so much more refined than mine do. Wow!

I haven't heard of Pure Posh - looks amazing!

I'm so glad I opened this thread!

Bonnie, I like your Gigi pic. However, if you want to blur the background, the easiest way is to rotate the dial on you camera and change it to the person or flower icon. This will give you a blur background. To have more precise control of how much you want to be in focus and how much you want to be out of focus (blur), you can use Aperture mode (your camera manual should show you how to do it). Have fun playing with more features of the camera :) Helen

The subtle coloration of Julia's Rose combined with her complex bloom structure really make for some high art when you so skillfully photograph her. What an amazing rose. I also enjoyed seeing what a vibrant Memorial Day can look like--I just transplanted mine for the third time, trying to find a sunnier spot for M Day. It was declining and in sad shape, but I'm hoping for a turnaround, and that it will look more like your lovely rose. I haven't seen many photos of Strawberry Hill on the forums, and it is just a fluffy delight. The sweet color makes me want some strawberry ice cream. I love it! Diane

Thank you for the kind words Diane. I have similar problem with finding sunny spots for my roses that I finally just potted the roses that can be potted and put them on the hard surface where they will get enough sun. Helen

Helen do you have any slight thrips problem? My roses are eaten alive!!!grrrr...crying :( they are my babies... and sprays will NOT do ANY difference. Oh...

    Thanks, Elvi

Thanks Elvi. I noticed a few of my roses have some thrips now that you mentioned it. Sorry that it's a big problem for you. Maybe some more experience rose gardeners can give some good suggestions. Helen
