Sweet Dream Amaryllis is in Florida. They have imported bulbs from Australia through a third party. They multiply them and mainly sell them to local shows. They had a web site up for a short time and I bought over 50 bulbs. The web site had some problems and is down now. You can order Maguire bulbs now directly from Shellie. Rge prices and bulbs are great. Here is one just opening today. Donna Maree and a bud coming on Port Wine with Hot Danish is the background going to bloom.

Oh wow, that's awesome. Port Wine looks like it will have some spectacular coloration. Please post a pic. when it flowers.

Approximately 25 bulbs are in scape right now. I will take a picture of each one and post it. Shellie sells real nice bulbs and unlike ordering directly from Maguires these bulbs are already used to the North American climate and bloom cycle. They have a very good selection and are adding some fantastic doubles.

You have to keep trying, I think they are very busy going to shows and whatever. It took a while for me too but I was persistent. I sent an email, not through any website.

My 6 bulbs (one free) arrived yesterday in very good condition. Several of them were on their second scape, the 1st having bloomed and had been cut off but the second scapes were just short enough to travel. The leaves were cut at about 10 inches, hopefully long enough to survive. Only one scape had a serious crease/bend in it but it is still attached and I think it will be Ok. Only Krakatoa didn't have a scape at all so I'm hoping she'll send one up in a bit as her leaves were short.

I wouldn't wait too long or you won't get any viable scapes and if I order again I will wait until fall so there won't be any scape loss.

But...the longer one waits the more that sell out as I guess they take pots in full bloom to shows, who could resist!!

Most of the varieties I chose were the heavily picoted and dotted ones. Some I had had previously and loved and then lost. The bulbs themselves were in much better condition than the ones that had that torturous journey from Australia and spent way too much time in way too hot quarantine warehouses and weeks in transit. These were pulled and a few days later were in my hands. Some had roots and some didn't.

There might be about 5 more that I would want in the future, but I'll wait until fall as I watch their progress during the summer.

I just couldn't resist the temptation to try again, this time on a much smaller scale though....

Edit: I thought I'd add their list if it helps any of you. I apologize for the mixed up mess but I just wanted it all in one picture so I could easily find it. Yes, they are mixed up alphabetically and the list was very long and spaced way out but you get the idea, this is current, just early last week...

If the print is too small, just take the picture, download the picture to your computer ,and then you can enlarge it and read it.... (hopefully)!!

They look very healthy and I love the re-use of the clear iced coffee cups :-))) I think it really cool to see the root development and at the same time it gives them some good light and heat exposure so they'll grow strong and healthy. Please post pictures of their development and of course the flowers!!!!

Fred I totally agree ! I also just put in an order tonight to Van Engelen for 20 bulbs on top of my orders I got coming from WFF and Royal Colors. I just received a big box of bulbs from Blooming Bulbs yesterday. Then I saw this post that Sweet Dream Amaryllis had their website up and running! Gosh I am in trouble!

I do have Donna Maree, 6 bulbs of blooming size. They are not on the website due to the limited quantity.

I had very bad experience with my Maguire Hippies that we imported from Australia several years ago as majority of them were virused. I hope that your stock of Maguire's bulbs in Florida are clean and virus free. If you can guarantee this, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat!

We believe our bulbs are virus free. We use the University of Florida IFAS Extension office to analyze our plants when we suspect an issue, and have never had a disease/infestation result. Please know that we are a nursery, growing our bulbs from propagation stock of new varieties we bring in from Maguire's Hippeastrum every few years. Any issues (and we have had none) with the original bulbs would have been evident and treated long before the bulbs we propagated from this stock grew to selling size. (Our last import of 20 new varieties was over 3 years ago.) We fill orders from growing plants we pull from our nursery at the time of the order, choosing the best bulbs available at that time. We do not harvest and store bulbs. We also, of course, stand behind any bulb we sell, and would issue a refund or replacement at the buyer's request.
