I think I thru in a Agave Desert Rose. It gets about 6" x 6" in 2-3 years. Slow growing and on the smaller side.

Nice plants Cathy! As Mentha stated don't use sand. I just use a good potting cactus mix with perlite. I'm not potting up anything outside lately the winds are 35-40 mph! Soil ends up everywhere but in the pot.

"Green" is the weird scandens, possibly irradiated. Deja Vu is a small Xanadu hybrid. I still have your lists. One that I remember was the ZZ cousin that was growing in your brother's yard that you said was weedy. I was also interested in S. doonerii, variegated S. parva, P. warsciewiczii, P. pusillum. I will also send some of my E. oxypetallum because you said you wanted to try it again and S. crysocardium.

I use Miracle Grow cactus mix with 50% of (large) poultry grit. It's crushed granite. Buy at 50 lb. bag for under $10. Seems to work great and is fast draining. Could still use perlite if you want.

Also I have a Philodendron Florida Beauty (Hyb). Stem cuttings root easy if anyone wants any.

Stush. I also like miracle grow cactus mix....it's the only one we have available up here. I have chickens why didn't I think to use grit!

Mentha, the 'green philo' sounds interesting, Deja Vu is one I don't have so welcome it, as well as the rest of those you're sending.

I can send the plants you mentioned with possible exception of dooneri if I can't find another plant or two. I may have lost some during the winter, but I'm still looking for some extras. I'll have more later in the summer if I can't send with this box.

I'm pretty sure I know the ZZ cousin you mention, was it Gonatopus boivinii? My brother is coming up this way 21 May and I'll ask him to bring some, I don't have it any more. It never got established in my yard, thank goodness.

What was the thread where we talked about 'wants'? I've forgotten.

Stush... I just saw Miracle Gro cactus mix today and almost bought a big bag to try. I'll go back and get it manana. You mentioned 'large' chicken grit, I didn't know there were different sizes. Can you guess at the approximate size of what you use? All I've seen is fairly fine, maybe 1/8 inch or smaller.

I'll have to find a feed store.

Russ, The grit comes in sizes. I think two. Small for starter and large for chickens and turkeys. The large is the size of the Miracle Gro perlite. The small is just above sand but is free draining. I use it only for my Huernias and Stapelias. 80% grit and 20% potting mix. Everything else I use the large grit. My Haworthias I use same 80% large to 20% potting mix.

Thanks Stush! I'm sure the grit I've had in the past was the large size, so that's what I'll get when I find a feed store. Is the 50/50 mix what you use for your sans?

Interesting that you use a mostly grit mix for stapelias, huernias and haworthias. I'm going to repot some of mine in this and see if they do better. I have rotted some in the past.

The man who knows grows his Haworthias in 100 % mix of grit, pulmice, and other solid stone like grit. Check out Bikerdoc on the Cactus & Suc. forums. I have traded with him and he is a very nice man to do business with.

Stush, I've got the Gold Xanadu in a box ready to go in the mail. I was going to send my largest one but some of the roots were rotting and I didn't like what I saw. The smaller of my two might be a more appropriate size for you anyway, probably a 6 inch standard or 1 gallon pot will work. It came out of the latter but was a bit overpotted, these Xanadu's seem to have small, sparse root systems.

I hope this one grows for you. I'm sending you a check separately, you're postage was quite a bit more than mine will be.

Russ, I am so sorry for not informing you when it arrived. Too much on my mind and very busy working around the house. I got so much work to do that it is beyond my abilities to cope with. I tank it a little at a time.

The plant arrived and planted up and so far is doing fine, thank you so much.

Wow! That is a beauty Stush/Russ! Stush did you get a frost or freeze yesterday morning? Hopefully the weather will warm a little soon (but not get too warm!!)!

I wasn't complainin' Stush, just curious about arrival. Not a big deal and I hope that work slacks off a bit so you can enjoy your plants. Hopefully this one will do better than the last, warm weather coming on will certainly help with that.

Chris, these yellow Xanadu's are not the strong growers that the green ones are and they definitely don't like being transplanted. I found two tiny little ones that I thought I lost, they might be big enough to send toward the end of the summer if you want to try one. Just remind me.

Chris, We did get close to a frost. 34 degrees. I brought most of my plants in and covered the rest. Night before was 35 so I already had most in. I suffered no losses and all is well. The worse part was the consent rain.

We have had a lot of rain and temps in the 40s way down here in Georgia. I am ready for warm weather. I have been running back inside with plants too.

Sounds like winter's not giving up easily this year. 40s in Georgia in May, that's darned near brutal, you kind of expect it in Pennsylvania and Jersey.

I'm glad you dealt with it without too much hassle Stush. The back and forth gets real old real quick. Another few weeks should make a big difference.
