I would put round glass table next to chair and add a orchid plant onto wood table to mimick the art.....I think you need to keep your eye out for a square or rectangle side table for your glass lamp...next to sofa...I would add a black.:)) looking good.

Nooo...it looks odd. I am waiting for the match of the small glass bird table but a glass rectangular one, to go on sale at Pier One. Then I will put it beside the loveseat in front of the window. I will put the lamp more centered...

Thank you Licksch! Some still suggest I repaint. Well that ain't never going to happen any time soon, lol. But I do need to get a diningroom table and chair set... There isn't much choice so far. I just want to pick up a set. Everything I have seen so far is just blah. Dark brown easily scratched tops, ladder rung sort of school house style backs. Of course the US has wonderful choices! I like the Paula Deen or Hooker furniture sets but with the very low Canadian dollar, I cannot afford the exchange, the duties and the shipping. This would be an enormous waste of coin. I can custom order a Canadel set but don't want to pick the wood, the stain, the legs, the backs the material and wait 3 months. Then what if we don't like it? I am looking for a set I can cash and carry :)

@Katharine Sharp.. The thing is, I want to be able to sit on the diningroom chair and see if it is the right height for the table and the right colour for us. Some things are great to order online, but others not. I wouldn't commit to purchasing large objects where you can't really see and feel the workmanship, online.

@ZZmom40... Well not exactly...but close! I had four of these in pine and birch and six in the hoop backed ones without arms in the oak...and two "captains chairs" with the arms.

Uh...had. "Had" being the operative word, lol. Since the 80's two went with kids to college... This one in basement storage and one awol. :/ Seriously...I am looking for something a little more...well....upscale. I know my cabinetry calls out urban farmhouse... I am going out today chair scoping. :) lets see what I find....I might take you with me in cyberspace. Lol

This is the dining set I have now. The table is an oak topped 1900's farmhouse. It has three large leaves to extend it very long. It has not been refinished, except for the top a little. The legs are interesting. The Parson's styled chairs can't fit slip covers as the hollow backs make the material scrunch up instead of being taut. I tried this idea. Didn't work.

I showed this chair to my husband. His reaction is a laugh I need to share; He says " I don't think so...it looks like a box with a back on it". Lol!!

Yes it is Katherine. it is so pretty back and front! But I don't get all excited about things any more based on looks alone. (Sorry Brad Pitt.) I will have to go to the two stores and sit on each style of chair...and the Mr. will have to try them out as well. The thing is...we will be using these every day. Our house doesn't have a formal dining room. I hope the seats keep sturdy and not cave in the center after just a couple of years. (We are are not very large people.)
