Gritty Mix Ficus Help

All,

I'm writing this post to inquire about the health of my ficus tree and request the assistance of the specialists out there. My ficus admittedly was purchased from a BBS yet always grew decently. After discovering the gritty mix, I felt as though it could only benefit from a transition over to it. As the photos below show, the tree had been potted in an inferior potting mix which was extremely peaty and water retentive. I initiated my repotting endeavor and tried my best to remove it entirely. In the process of cleaning and rinsing the roots, a good amount of roots were removed.

The tree is now devoid of leaves besides for one following this repot. I've been patiently awaiting its new flush of green, however no such thing has occurred. My question for everyone is whether my tree is on its last leg, or still may make it given good care and time. Any insight or suggestions you can offer will be extremely appreciated!

Thank you
