Our Victorian/ Edwardian is in desperate need of an exterior facelift. It is on a brick paved street with other old homes, many of which are also boldly colored. There's red, dark green, sage green, royal blue, pale grey, slate blue, and mustard yellow all on our block. It's also a beautiful old tree- lined street, so plenty of shade and plenty of nature to support all the colors listed above.

Husband and I really love dramatic spaces, and have decided we either want a black house or an orange house. I know many reader reactions will be to recoil in horror, but hear me out. Pir house is tall, bit narrow and long. It sits on a corner, with many trees and only one neighboring house- owned by an out-of-stater who is rarely here. If black, we would have all window and door trim, soffits and fascia in white, and have copper gutters. If orange, all white trim, etc. as the black option, but with plain white gutters instead.

If it matters to your voting, we are in the cold north, so heat absorption of the black is not an issue.
