My African Violets are my only blooming house plant at the moment. Gives me something to look at since my Hoyas and Orchid Cactus won't bloom lol.

Gorgeous!! I keep thinking about trying an orchid. Maybe someday. Right now, I have one African violet in bloom, both of my H. javanica (ok fine, half the Hoya names arent official anyways, I give up.), a few more little Kalanchoe blossfeldiana blooms hanging in there, and my H.bella continues to haunt me with increasingly bigger and greater numbers of buds but none have opened yet. Ooh, and my Cape sundew is unrolling a flower stalk.

Sure does make the day brighter having flowers around doesn't it? :)

Kim, most orchids are rather easy to grow! Seriously! I keep some mounted (my vandas and a couple of cattleyas/lc. hybrids) and some are potted. The one in the pic is potted in a chunky (large) orchid bark mix. Water it when near bone dry, adding foliage pro to the water at feed rate, mist roots daily, mist with foliage pro once a week at foliar rate, place in bright, sunny location, and enjoy!

All but my paphs and phals go outside, when it warms up enough.

Brad, my epiphyllums aren't blooming yet, either! They have just come out of their "dry" period, and I am starting to get them ready to go out. Lots more water, warmth, light, and food coming their way!

I've had my Epiphyllum oxypetalum for a few years now and it has never, ever flowered for me. I am also starting to give my plants fertilizer and giving them fresh air by opening the windows during the day (we're having a gorgeous warm spell). So I hope my Epiphyllum will bloom this year. I hear the scent for oxypetalum is quite a treat.

Hahahah, Aurora my concern is more related to space, but really to my wallet. Sooner or later though, I am sure I will end up with an orchid, either a rescue on a discount bin or maybe get lucky with a keiki on a trade or something. And then, doom. ;)

I am already hooked on Hoya obviously, but recently got nailed by the Dischidia bug, but and also hooked on Mesembs, carnivorous species, and a few other random plants I happen to like. I suppose... always room for 27 more right?

Oh, did you still have that H. darwinii? Email me if you do. :)

I do! If you are ready to give it a shot! Nicely rooted, two new leaves; one seems to be turning into the ball type! Apologies for the one leaf...darn kitty decided hoya darwinii is tasty!

Awwww, darn kitty! Keep waiting for the day my cat gets similar ideas, but hasn't happened yet. And yeah, probably as ready as I will be without a grow tent. I can always set it up in a 10gal viv if I need to. Just to recap, likes high humidity, and not to get to dry between waterings? Winter it on a heat pad? Probably will put it in a opem 10gal, with a heat pad on the bottom over the winter. Do I got it, or does the plan need work? :D

    *water once a week

    *mist daily

*keep warm and in high light

Seriously, keep some antifungal for plants or baking soda around for this one. It is the ONLY hoya I have had that has gotten powdery mildew. Easy to cure, at least, lol!

Email me with your address (I am horrible with keeping important messages), and I will ship on Monday!
