Grille Inserts

Hi! I love the look of the cabinet grille inserts, can you please tell me about them - where they're from, cost, are they custom made for the cabinet, is the cabinet a regular cabinet but with the middle piece knocked out? Is it mesh? Will dust get through onto the stored items? I'm considering similar inserts vs leaded glass. Thanks!!

hi there, These are custom cabinets and the inserts were made to fit to my specification based on the layout/floor plan. The inserts are mesh with a metal criss cross overlaying. I think there would be a higher probability of dust getting through than glass inserts but in my mind if you want the look of this over leaded glass, I would go for it... it would be a form over function decision but not too dramatic as the gap around the inset doors will also let some dust in vs. full overlay doors. The inserts come from Martin U.K. - I found them on the internet and asked my cabinet supplier to set up an account with them so that they could order the inserts in connection with engineering the size of the opening needed to accommodate them. The cut out was planning with an extra band of cabinet material on the back side of the door to overlay the insert and screw into the door to keep it in place. If you want to do this planning the depth of the cutout and engineering how it is going to work will make for a better job. Good luck
