I don't think my experience will be of relevance to you because of my zone and the fact that mine are in pots. I have seven in pots. Six of them were one gallon last year and the seventh was a three gallon. By the end of October they were all the same size. They are in 22" pots and extended over the edge of the pots about 18" in all directions. I am so pleased with them that I just picked up 10 Drift's to put in flower beds this year. They are bullet proof on BS.

I'm not sure how much attention you'll get here. You might want to repost it on the regular Roses group.

My only experience is with a Pink Drift that I bought last week. We are moving and I needed a replacement for one I removed and am taking with us. So far it's happy, blooming and not showing any transplant shock.

I have Peach Drift, Popcorn Drift, and Red Drift. They are fabulous roses in my Alabama zone 7b garden. I can't speak for your area. They bloom prolifically for me and stay low and rounded, except red drift--it spreads more.

I have the coral red, popcorn and peach drift roses. All 3 are beautiful and the coral drift is in its 2nd year and who I call monster as it survived the winter here in Ontario, Canada with flying colors. The thing went bonkers this year and I thought last year it had lots of blooms. Well this year it is going crazy with them. I can attest to dizzy lizzy that it spreads more as mine is but also too more blooms to boot. As of now I am waging a battle with the rose slug that has been munching on the leaves, but between my picking them off and spraying it I think I am winning the war on them as I only have seen 1 or 2 now whereas before I had picked off close to 35 of them. The peach has finished flowering the first time but it still looks healthy. The popcorn has almost finished blooming but has a few more buds on it and the coral drift well it makes up for both of them not having any :) Here is a picture of the coral drift I took before I weeded that part of the garden they were in.

I have been in a fog all afternoon and also in tears. My beautiful peach drift rose that was getting buds on it after it survived the winter is gone. I am soooo upset over losing it as where I live is a Seniors complex and there is a bit of garden out the front and it looks pretty bland so to liven it up a bit I put in the coral drift rose, the popcorn and added the peach drift last year I had beautiful flowers on it and then covered it up with burlap but couldn't really get too into it as I was battling tendonitis in my right arm. Come spring I half expected it to have not survived when I lifted off the burlap and was amazed to see new shoots coming from it and over the weeks green leaves and buds!!! I was ecstatic. Then today the region had these so called gardeners come and do the gardening. But their version of it is not what I would call professionals. I didn't even see them arrive and when the fellah phoned me to tell me about my rhubarb also been hacked by them used a weed whacker I was upset to say the least. I went outside and a big blank space where my drift peach rose was greeted my eyes. I just broke down and began crying. We found out that of the 3 rhubarb plants I brought back from the house we could only find 2 and even these had been chopped off leaving only about an inch so above the ground. We are both hoping they can grow back as the bulb part wasn't affected. And the woman gardener when the fellah who helped me plant it asked her where the rhubarb was she had no idea what it was. I have tried all over to get another peach one in Ontario Canada with no luck.

And yet they didn't touch the purple iris or the coral drift or the popcorn one. It costs me $24.00 to get that rose as I had to pay $4 in bus fare to get there by bus and then $20.00 for the rose then having to look after it for the remainder of the summer and the winter as well as the spring soooo all that effort I put into it was wasted all because of these yoyos don't know which are flowers and which are weeds. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened as other people too have bought flowers and put them in the garden only for them to come along and with the good ol weedwhacker chop them all down.
